Mexico's transportation secretary said debt-ridden carrier Mexicana de Aviacion is halting all operations. Juan Francisco Molinar Horcasitas told reporters the struggling airline ceased all flights and other activity as of last Friday at midnight. American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, has unveiled its new location in the North Terminal of Miami International Airport (MIA). A state-of-the-art facility housing both American and American Eagle, the new terminal offers customers improved check-in and domestic baggage claim, with an array of shops and restaurants featuring the flavors of South Florida. American Eagle has completed the initial phase of its transition to new departure areas at gates D53, D55 and D60. The Jamaica Tourist Board and JetBlue have launched the All You Can Jet Pass with an all-inclusive Jamaica trip giveaway. KISS 108, Boston’s number-one hit music station, announced a contest for which the prize is an all-inclusive four-day/three-night vacation for two with accommodations at Sunset Resorts’ Sunset Beach Resort, Spa & Waterpark in Montego Bay, plus two All You Can Jet Passes from JetBlue. American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, said that it will increase nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and 10 additional cities throughout the American Airlines network, beginning Nov. 18. A Boeing 767 from the Russian Airline “Transaero” carrying 200 passengers on Monday arrived at the Varadero Airport, 90 miles east from Havana, a Cuba’s tourism official said on Monday. Mexicana Airlines, which filed for bankruptcy in New York and Mexico at the beginning of the month, is returning 25 percent of its fleet to leasing companies and suspending some of its low-cost and regional services. This follows the suspension of service on several international and some domestic flights earlier this week. American Airlines is offering low fares on flights to popular destinations in Florida and the Gulf Coast. Fares are good for travel between Sept. 7 and Nov. 15. Tickets must be purchased by Aug. 13. Fares are available to destinations in Florida and select Gulf Coast markets from the continental United States and Canada. Following a joint meeting with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Alan Bersin and TSA Administrator John Pistole, Delta Air Lines said that it is launching a customer and employee outreach campaign touting the benefits the DHS Global Entry program offers international travelers re-entering the United States. Tiara Air expanded its air service between Bonaire and Aruba, adding non-stop morning departures to the current schedule of afternoon flights each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The morning flights will create better schedules for connections in Aruba to the U.S., and allow travelers in Aruba to take day trips to Bonaire. Air Canada will begin daily, nonstop service between Toronto and New Orleans starting Oct. 30. The new route will be operated with a 75-seat, Jazz CRJ 705 aircraft. It will be the only nonstop, daily service between Toronto and New Orleans. It is part of Air Canada’s continued expansion of transborder flights out of Toronto.
