Windstar Cruises is offering new Mediterranean shore excursions for 2010. From April through November, Windstar ships sail seven-day Mediterranean voyages departing Lisbon, Portugal; Barcelona, Spain; Rome, Italy; Athens, Greece; Nice, France; Venice, Italy; and Istanbul, Turkey. Norwegian Cruise Line is planning to increase prices fleetwide by up to 7 percent on April 2 due to an “unprecedented year-to-date increase in booking volume” during its “Year of the Freestyle Vacation” Wave Season promotion in January and February. Celebrity Cruises introduced a new dining concept that it will offer exclusively on the Celebrity Eclipse. Qsine, part of the “Designed for You” program that the line launched last month, is a “modern, playful approach to familiar dishes from around the world,” along with “childhood favorites with elements of surprise,” said Jacques Van Staden, Celebrity’s vice president of culinary operations, during a teleconference this morning. Oceania Cruises celebrated the float-out of the 65,000-ton Marina on Feb. 26 by starting construction on its sister ship, named Riviera, the same day at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Carnival Corp & Plc’s flagship unit Carnival Cruise Lines said it will increase its prices by up to 5 percent for all summer sailings, following strong wave-season bookings at the cruise operator. The wave season, traditionally the busiest booking period for the cruise industry, runs from about mid-January through early spring.
