Marriott Hotel Coming to Macedonia ( Thursday, 03/06/2010 )

Marriott plans to open its first hotel in the Balkans in 2013. A 180-room Marriott is planned for Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. The Skopje Marriott will be the first managed, internationally branded hotel in Skopje, according to Marriott.

Radisson Blu Opens in Moscow ( Monday, 31/05/2010 )

The Radisson Blu Royal Moscow has opened following a three-year renovation of the former Hotel Ukraina. The 506-room hotel is housed in one of Moscow’s “Seven Sisters” skyscrapers built between 1949 and 1957, said hotel operator Rezidor. The building, which also houses 38 serviced apartments, combines Russian Baroque and Gothic architecture.

Wizz Air announced at a press conference in Budapest that it would launch new routes and increase frequencies of a number of existing services by adding a fourth Airbus A320 aircraft to its Budapest base, starting on 24 July 2010.

Ryanair announced it would open its 40th and 1st Central European base at Kaunas, Lithuania’s second largest city, in May with 2 based aircraft and 18 routes (9 new). Ryanair’s new base will deliver up to 1 million passengers yearly and sustain 1,000 jobs at Kaunas with over 120 weekly flights as Ryanair invests over 100 million euros at Kaunas Airport.

Wizz Air, the largest low fare-low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced the launch of a new flight from Budapest to Pisa, making it the 6th Italian city served from the Hungarian capital. The flights will start on July 1 and initially operate 3 times a week

Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has now fully deployed his web check-in service in Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. Web check-in is now available for all flights departing from Budapest, Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw, London Luton and Prague. More airports will be introduced in the upcoming weeks and the service will be fully deployed by 1st April 2010.

Wizz Air Opens the Riga Market ( Thursday, 24/12/2009 )

Wizz Air announced that it would enter the Latvian market by opening three new routes from Riga, starting from 28 March 2010. The initial network will include thrice weekly services to London Luton, Oslo Torp and two flights a week to Turku.

Hilton Worldwide inked a franchise agreement with Hotel Zakrzowek to open a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Krakow, Poland. Scheduled to open in the spring of 2010, the hotel will become the first Hilton Garden Inn in the country.
