Bookings for meetings and conventions in San Juan are up 20 percent over the same time last year, but the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau continues to work new markets and implement new sales strategies in the face of the current economic situation, according to Ana Maria Viscasillas, president and CEO.

Leipzig is to host ICCA’s World Congress 2011. Once per year the ICCA World Congress brings the whole meetings industry of all continents together. The event is organized by the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) which unites some 850 congress centers, destinations, meeting planners and meeting industry suppliers in more than 80 countries.

According to a new congress survey commissioned by Finland Convention Bureau (FCB), international association meetings held in Finland last year attracted a total of 60,790 delegates who stayed in the country for an average of 4.7 nights.

As has been the case since 2004, the U.S.A. and Germany are the number one and two countries respectively measured by the number of international meetings organized in 2007.
