England’s tourism chiefs have teamed up to form a dedicated action group focused entirely on growing England’s business tourism after the sector was identified as a key area of potential growth by the recently launched Strategic Framework for English Tourism.

Memorial Day weekend will see a convergence of new and international literary giants descending on the beautiful southern coast of Treasure Beach, Jamaica, for a three day festival of poetry, music, food and fun. This will be free and open to the public at Jakes.

A total of 85 companies representing 43 countries have registered to participate at the sixth Moscow International MICE Forum on March 16. The Acapulco International Convention Center closed Nov. 30 and is seeking new investors to renovate the facility, according to the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office. The convention center will temporarily reopen to host the Tianguis Turistico conference, April 25 to 28.

Palm Beach County is celebrating its centennial with a once-in-a-century opportunity for meetings and conventions. Finalize a group contract before Sept. 30 and receive a $1,909 or more incentive rebate at participating hotels. Through the incentive rebate program, meeting planners may secure rebates from $1,909 to $4,909 from an incentive rebate fund totaling $150,000.

Bookings for meetings and conventions in San Juan are up 20 percent over the same time last year, but the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau continues to work new markets and implement new sales strategies in the face of the current economic situation, according to Ana Maria Viscasillas, president and CEO.

Leipzig is to host ICCA’s World Congress 2011. Once per year the ICCA World Congress brings the whole meetings industry of all continents together. The event is organized by the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) which unites some 850 congress centers, destinations, meeting planners and meeting industry suppliers in more than 80 countries.
