New Sushi Restaurant Opens in Aruba on Palm Beach Road

Thursday, 02/07/2009

Gari & Wasabi opened on Palm Beach Road between Linda’s Pancake House and Bingo Restaurant next to the Valero Station on Wednesday night. Although just a soft opening with friends and family, the owners and guests enjoyed the evening in a unique Aruban ambience of the latest contribution to Aruba’s culinary scene.

Gari & Wasabi brings a contemporary spin on the Kaiten (conveyor belt) Sushi. Now they are finally ready to let you try out their amazing rolls. Gari (meaning ginger) & Wasabi are the essential companions of sushi. They are complimentary in presentation as well as in taste, both are intended for consumption in moderation, however they are both capable of bringing out sushi’s hidden qualities and enhance its subtle flavor.

Traditionally, ginger is served with sushi as it will cleanse the palate when eaten between different types of sushi; and wasabi is appreciated not only for a zing that does not linger, but also for its antimicrobial properties. Sushi really has nothing to do with raw fish. It refers to the vinegar-seasoned rice used in making what we refer to as sushi. There are so many types of this dish that are generically (often wrongly) called “sushi”. So make sure you pay a visit at this trendy place on your visit.
